Role Overview: Senior Backend Engineer
Location: Palo Alto, CA
As a Senior Backend Engineer at Typeface, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and delivering backend features for web applications and cloud services. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, design, marketing, and data science, to build and maintain solutions that leverage generative AI technology.
Job Duties

Feature Development: Own the end-to-end delivery of key product and technology initiatives, from design and specification through development, testing, and launch.
Software Quality: Develop high-quality, maintainable software that adheres to best practices and is easily understandable by other team members.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with designers, product managers, marketing teams, and other engineers to ensure alignment and successful integration of features.
Innovation: Investigate, prototype, and implement innovative solutions across the technology stack to enhance the functionality and performance of applications.
Best Practices: Define, drive, and enforce best practices for building modern web applications and cloud services, ensuring robust and scalable solutions.

Skills and Experience
Must-Have Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Experience: At least 5 years of experience in backend development.
Technical Skills:

Proficiency with one or more backend languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript frameworks.
Experience developing on major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).



Preferred Qualifications:

Database Systems: Strong experience with relational and NoSQL databases, and pub/sub systems (e.g., Kafka, AWS SNS, Azure EventHub).
Data Pipelines: Experience with developing bulk ingestion pipelines and building data analytics services.
Performance Optimization: Proven ability to optimize performance across the entire technology stack.
Startup Experience: Prior experience working in a high-growth startup or technology company.
